I Built a Console Table!

So in our new apartment, we needed a console table when you walk into the door. I couldn't find one I pictured in my head, so I decided to take matters into my own hands. Using some directions from Ana White, I built my own console table! It turned out really sturdy. and I'm pretty proud of it. Here are some pictures from this little project...
I used pine for this project. Little Kitty was my assistant

I added wood appliques for decoration

I stained the top first before I painted the bottom

And here it is in our apartment!

I added baskets for our keys, mail, and Jock's outside things

Dresser Redo!

For our new apartment in Dothan, I completely revamped an old wood dresser that I found on Craigslist for $40!!!!! Here are some pictures from that project...

Very yucky brown color but I loved the details

I primed it with gray

Painted it a blue-gray color

This was my first attempt at glazing furniture, and I must confess, I'm now slightly obsessed. It was SOOO easy! I mixed about 2 parts glaze with one part stain (you can also use any paint color you want). Then all you have to do is brush it on and let it sit for about 15-30 minutes. Wipe it off using an old towel, and DONE!

This is how the piece looked after glazing. It really brings out the detailing

I did a little distressing

And here it is! I spray painted the handles silver. I will take a better picture of the dresser once we get a little more settled in the apartment!

My Troy Bridal Coffee

Two weekends ago, I had both of my bridal showers, one in Troy and one in Dothan. It was a very busy weekend, but I had such a wonderful time seeing everyone. I felt so special, and it we are incredibly blessed to have so much love and support for our marriage. Here are some pictures from my Troy shower...

Our Wedding Guestbook

Gantt and I are getting married 5 weeks from tomorrow! We absolutely can't wait, but there is still so much to do before the big day! Since I insist on doing everything myself, creating our guestbook was no exception. I found several guestbooks online that were the style I was looking for, but just were a little out of the price range I think is reasonable. So I figured I would do it myself! I started with a guestbook I found on clearance...

I filled to hole so that the top would be even

Covered the front with cardstock

I used silk duiponi in champagne for the cover. I measured out the size

Marked where the monogram would need to be

Folding the sides

Filled the binding

Added black moire ribbon

Covered the inside and backside covers with light blue shimmer cardsotck

Added the pearl and rhinestone broach and TADA! Our Guestbook...

Here you can see the shimmer in the moire

And here it is! Our wedding guestbook.
I'm so happy with the way it turned out! I can't wait to use it during my showers and of course at the wedding! I recently picked up some other "ugly" guestbooks on clearance, so contact me if you are interested in purchasing your own custom guestbook.
